Playoff feels

From: (Anonymous)
How is your team going to do? How are the other teams going to do? What is your team's fanbase currently freaking out about?

Re: Playoff feels

With Letang out, I am pretty much ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. Whatever we do will be better than nothing. I think we actually have a decent chance of beating Columbus, and I would enjoy keeping CBJ's "never won a playoff series" streak alive, because I guess I'm a little bit sadistic and also Tortarella. But whatever.

Having three of the top four teams in the same division has really fucked the Metro bracket, though. Pens are the #2 team in the entire league and will be playing the #4 team, which is really not fair to either. And meanwhile Washington gets Toronto.

Re: Playoff feels

From: (Anonymous)
Yeah, I dislike Torts and would like to see his team ignominiously booted. But the loss of Letang's stamina is really going to cost the Pens later on.

Very few Preds fans I've seen have faith that they could win the series, but some of the fancy stats people are saying they probably have a good chance. I haven't checked the more mainstream picks but I'd imagine most people go with Chicago because they always do.

Personally I think it's just kind of a mental thing. This team is probably good enough that they could win, but the very thing that they lack is that winning type of swagger or whatever you want to call it that the Blackhawks have. Just no real reason to believe they're going to figure it out now. Feels like they'll lose in a way that you can say "if they were just a little luckier maybe they would have won". I'd love to be wrong though.

I'd love you to be wrong, too. If it helps, I will be cheering them on with all my might.

I noticed when I was filling out my bracket that the NHL's fancy stats even have Preds over Hawks.

Re: Playoff feels

From: (Anonymous)
Yeah, but all the real fancy stats folks say the NHL stats system is absolute garbage, so I'm not clinging to hope there.

I really do love being wrong here. Just an amazing series.

NA

I know, I'm really happy you were wrong too :) And a sweep as well!

Re: Playoff feels

From: (Anonymous)
I think they showed they have that swagger in spades, nonnie. :)

Re: Playoff feels

Honestly, I don't have that much faith in the Sharks. They're not clicking like they were last year and recently they've been losing a lot. I just want them to get to the second round and I'll be satisfied. (...please?)

Re: Playoff feels

The Wild are, uh, not doing great lately, Dubnyk has regressed to the mean, and Kuemper is just... the less said about Kuemper the better. And I don't even know what to say about the defense.

I'm not expecting much, but the Wild are surprisingly healthy going in, which gives them a bit of an advantage. So, hey, maybe we'll survive to be kicked out by the Hawks again! Ugh.

When it comes to Ottawa and Boston, I have no horse in this race. But there is a part of me that is a bit curious at what Marchand and Burrows will do...

Re: Playoff feels

From: (Anonymous)
I'd forgotten Burrows was in Ottawa. Although tbh I'm not sure I could name one Ottawa player besides Karlsson. Mark Stone used to be there, right? But they traded him.

Re: Playoff feels

From: (Anonymous)
Hopefully Marchand realizes he's more important to his team now than he was when he was just King Pest in 2011, but I wouldn't put it past him to temporarily lose it like he did vs. Tampa. He's mentioned before that he saw a sports psychologist in the past about controlling his emotions in tense situations, and there's probably nothing more tense than your first playoff game in 3 years with a whole lot of people counting on you to deliver...

Re: Playoff feels

From: (Anonymous)
Well, that gave me some feels all right, whether that was your intention or not. ;_;

Re: Playoff feels

Things I want out of the playoffs.

Leaf getting sweep.
Pens losing in 7, if you can't keep the Leaf out of the playoff you deserve nothing.
California teams over the Canadian team.

What I expect to happen. Caps choke because what else are they good for. Pens winning. California teams failing.

Re: Playoff feels

From: (Anonymous)
The Flames haven't won a game in Anaheim in over 10 years. I guess that could mean they're due, but you've got a good chance of at least that one going right.

Re: Playoff feels

From: (Anonymous)
If the Preds manage to pull this off, I just realized there are going to be SO MANY handwringing articles about the Hawks going out in the first round two years in a row, and I'm going to enjoy them SO MUCH. (Well, I probably won't read them. But I'll enjoy knowing they're out there.)

Re: Playoff feels

From: (Anonymous)
I'll be interested to see if the tide begins to turn against Toews, superleader, who got his huge contract and then failed to leader them.

But we'll see. Still time for the Preds to implode or the Hawks to get their shit together.

Re: Playoff feels

From: (Anonymous)
It's time for superleader Toews to show some emotion and get the team going. He should take a page out of Karlsson's book! This whole silent stoic leader thing isn't working.

Re: Playoff feels

From: (Anonymous)
what's the hawks cap situation looking like this year? they've had to get rid of big pieces for like 3 years in a row so I'm wondering (hoping) if they will again

Re: Playoff feels

From: (Anonymous)
Can't wait for them to get stuck with shitty overpaid players and miss the playoffs for years.
