Re: Fic discussion - but always in tandem, youcouldmakealife

Oh no nonny. It isn't in the Hockey RPF tag anymore and I escaped. You aren't sucking me back in!

Begone! Begone, I say!!!

Her college hockey details already seem confused at best.

I have it open in a tab, but haven't read it yet because of the same reasons basically. I'm still super annoyed about Vinny (which was my favourite story of hers, shame on me I guess) and I'm holding of on reading any David until it ends (although I used to love it ugh).

I'm following her tumblr and the million names and characters she mentions make following her stories seem like kind of a drag? Idk...

I just hope this pairing is actually endgame. The past few arcs of hers haven't been very satisfying in that regard, and I'm sick of reading 50 chapters (sorry, not chapters, separate fics) about two guys who don't even end up together.

/Nonnie who should probably stop reading in this verse

lol this is the most random thing ever. i have so many questions.

but yes i also want that.

Re: Fic discussion - but always in tandem, youcouldmakealife

That seems like a common problem in hockey rpf adjacent fic.

Okay fine, sample size of two.

Re: Worlds

From: (Anonymous)
He was asked about the effect of missing players due to injury, so the journo prompted it. But I think Znarok just hates Yak at this point because of their bizarro feud over whether Yak is actually injured or not.

lol I have the same "problem" with her fic. I'm sorry, but teasing it for months and then not resolving anything is not something I particularly like.

Re: Fic discussion - but always in tandem, youcouldmakealife

Wait, what's the other one?

Re: Fic discussion - but always in tandem, youcouldmakealife

It seems like one of the characters wasn't recruited for a D1 hockey school, just applied because he wasn't drafted.

Re: Gossip/Player's Lives.

From: (Anonymous)
Artemi Panarin is dating daughter of Team Russia head coach Oleg Znarok (per life.ru). And apparently the dad is fine with that.

The fact that she posts it as separate fics drives me up the fucking wall.

I assume they're referring to Check, Please

Re: Players You Want Fic For

I would totally participate in a rare Stars prompt fest.

Re: Random Hockey Thread

Lol, I had the same problem. I noticed they were all wearing shoes, but then their bare asses kept touching the ground! You guys, that is not sanitary!

Re: All Access - Quest for the Stanley Cup

From: (Anonymous)
Must be the Rangers. The Islanders have a retro leather jacket and used to have a hard hat.

Re: Random Hockey Thread

From: (Anonymous)
I assumed it was less for sanitary reasons and more so they wouldn't slip around, lmao

Re: Random Hockey Thread

If it makes you feel any better, you can pretend they bleached the shower before commencing with the fun times.

DA

I know the Rangers call theirs the Broadway hat, anyhow, because I've seen it mentioned in fic. But I have no idea if it's a fedora or not.

Re: Fic discussion - but always in tandem, youcouldmakealife

From: (Anonymous)
That's... that's now how that works. A lot of this is ringing inaccuracy alarms for me, and it doesn't help that BU is actually my school.

Besides (or maybe because of?) the poor research, the writing itself seems really sub-par, too. It's a mess.

Re: All Access - Quest for the Stanley Cup

From: (Anonymous)
It looks like a fedora, which is why I remember it.

I think the Broadway hat has a Twitter too.

*Checks Twitter.*

Apparently it has more than one Twitter.

I'm not necessarily trying to defend her, but it's hard to figure out how the college hockey recruiting process works for someone who isn't a Jack Eichel. I tried to research it once for a fic idea and closed out my browser confused as hell. For a really minor plot point, it doesn't seem like that big of a deal to me.

(And I don't know if it works this way for hockey, but I know college football teams have tryouts for walk-ons who weren't recruited. A successful NFL player who graduated from my school two years before I did tried out for the football team his sophomore year...obviously that was a decision that worked out well for him.)
