Vokuon had to retire for blood clots, too.

And yeah, it's not just the injuries. It's that so many of them are especially weird and traumatic. And there's Sid's concussion, too - obviously lots of teams have players that have major problems from concussions, but that doesn't make it any less horrible when it's your guy who might never come back.

I readily admit I can be a little alarmist about injuries, but man, that's what following this team for a few years can do to you!

I keep seeing gifs of Tyler Johnson's bloody mouth and I think it's leading me to develop a kink I never had before. :/ I don't get it. It's not like this is the first hockey player I've ever seen bleed from the face! Why, brain?

As someone from the area, I'm genuinely wondering what you mean by "weird grammar". The only grammar thing that I know is native to Wisconsin/Minnesota/the UP is a thing where we frequently say things like "do you want to come with?" or "we should bring that with." instead of "do you want to come with me?" and "we should bring that with us." That's widely believed to be a weird holdover from German/Norwegian/Swedish grammar that stuck around in English, for some reason.

I'm from the lower Midwest and that phrasing is common there, too.

I was the original sad nonnie. All I really wanted to say was some Pens fans are just normal mostly chill hockey fans that you don't have to hate and that I was sorry that some of us are so *overenthusiastic* - I should have known that I was invoking the beatlejuice clause.

I think it's a combination of the way his face is normally and the blood, so you get the combination of his half-lidded eyes and open, bloody mouth, and it just...does things to me. I want his mouth to bleed some more, and also for the blood to get smeared on someone's dick.

I don't think you could really describe any NHL teams as "scrappy". When I think scrappy, I think, like, the Mighty Ducks. Not the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim, but the Mighty Ducks of Minneapolis coached by Gordon Bombay.

Yeahhhhh I recognize that TyJohnny is Handsome but he doesn't normally do much for me. But something about how he looks kind of dazed in these gifs (probably high af on pain meds) is um, pretty great.

Bloody mouth kink? IDK. I also perhaps enjoy nosebleeds and bruised faces in general.

It's pretty boring and overdetermined, even more than most of Yohe's Good Dude columns. It's basically: Kessel's friends and family like him, the Penguins like him, guys like Paul Martin and Brooks Orpik who played with him on the national team said they liked him, Patrick Kane said a nice thing about him (seriously; there's even a quote from him), most of the Toronto media even liked him. Here's a quote from Justin Schultz: "I absolutely love that guy. He went out of his way to make me feel comfortable from my first day here. He cracks me up. Just a funny, great guy. We love him in here, I’ll tell you that. The reputation he gets is so unfair. He’s a much different guy than people think." (Admittedly that is nice to read.)

That's it, that's the article. Not even any ~anecdotes. (I'll never forget the Good Dude column on Crosby where Yohe tells us what a good person Crosby is because he recycled a water bottle lol.)

The Pens didn't actually "win" the Mumps, though. The Ducks and the Wild had the most players get the Mumps.
