This is the eleventh post of Deke Dangle RPF Anon, a community for all your ice hockey anon meme needs.

THE RULES

This probably isn't what you meant, but I immediately pictured a scenario in which the pregnant Canadian parent goes into labor in the US, panics, and books a flight to Canada, leading him to pretend not to be in labor during security, boarding, and the entire flight, until they finally land on Canadian soil.

Hah, yes, an extremely pregnant Sabre or Red Wing, in labor and screaming at the lines at the border crossing because they need to get to a hospital on the other side, god dammit!

Even better -- it's the world's most terrifying road trip for some poor rookie who got shanghaied into it! (And then the thrilling conclusion to the world's most terrifying road trip, where the pregnant guy immediately rolls out of the car once they hit Canadian soil and the rookie has to deliver the baby.)

I think all it would take would be for the pregnant NHL star to explain the reason that the baby can't be born in U.S., and most Canadian border guards are going to carry them across if need be.

"I'm not gonn be the reason Baby Toews (or Crosby or whoever) might play for the U.S. someday!"

More likely they get slowed down when they get a speeding ticket before getting to the border.

yes, okay. So the baby is born like a meter from the border and then the Canadian border guards enter into a conspiracy with the NHL star to lie about where the baby was born. "IT WAS TOTALLY ON THE CANADA SIDE OF THE LINE WE SWEAR"

I'm laughing so hard at the image of the Canadian border guards abandoning their posts en masse to bear Sidney Crosby over the border so his child will have no option to play for team USA.

I'm not talking about hiding. I've never heard of this "no fly" rule, and I've known pregnant women who have flown. I'm very dubious that an airline would have staff looking at people's midsections and guessing how far along they were and refusing to let them fly without being hit with a ton of lawsuits. And I don't know why airlines would ever take on extra medical duty like that, without it being against the law. At best, I can see them printing on tickets that air travel is not recommended and fly at your own risk maybe.

Uh, it's fairly common knowledge that you can't fly in your final trimester because the change in air pressure causes people to go into labor. I'm kinda astonished you've never heard of this and think it would count as some sort of discrimination.

DA As long as one of the parents is Canadian you just apply for citizenship. But, they can be American citizens too.
