This is the twenty-fourth post of Deke Dangle RPF Anon, a community for all your ice hockey anon meme needs.

THE RULES

Thoughts, opinions? I know I should know better than to get invested again after the Vinny fiasco and the prolonged torture that is Jake/David, but I kinda want to know where this goes.

I read it. I like it. It's the kind of spurious heist fic I eat up with a spoon. I am slightly sad that Alex DeBrincat has a misspelled tag.

I realize crippling insecurity and self-esteem issues are a popular fanon aspect of Tyler Seguin, but I guess I'm over it. I wish this fic had gone in a different direction. I really liked the "can't tell a lie" premise and the verbal diarrhea aspect. I just would have liked it if Tyler's inner monologue had turned out to be more complex.

Anybody reading this series? It's OC/OC, two guys each of whom have their own (non-relationship-related) issues, updates fairly regularly so far. I'm a little annoyed that the everyone in the story knows what McNamara's deal is except the reader - that's just cheating, IMO. But I like the character interactions.

I'd always seen Preds nonnies complaining about the Sad Shea Weber thing, and I kind of accepted it as a trope without noticing it much, but I just read that new Suter/Parise fic and I get it now. 1900 plotless meandering words about Shea Weber being sad about Ryan, without even a light at the end of the tunnel! Nothing!

Is there unfinished fic you'd particularly like to see finished/finished fic you'd really like to see a continuation of or see the 'verse expanded?

Just curious. Myself, I wish there was more of iBear's S/G Eagle AU, and there's some priest!Sid ficlets on Tumblr that I'd love to see turned into a proper fic.

The now-completed sequel to the "Tyler Seguin fathered a kid as a teenager." In general I enjoyed it all the way through - not overwrought, though it could easily have been given the subject matter. I thought the character conflict came from understandable places, too.

However, I wish I knew the author and could point out their head-hopping habits and how much smoother the fic would read if they stuck to a single POV in a scene. It's quite readable fic, generally! Just fic that randomly shifts POV between lines!

I was also startled by pregnant Jordie Benn. Had there been mentions of mpreg earlier in the series? I thought we were in "our" universe, and then suddenly Jordie's working on a kid. I love mpreg, so I enjoyed it, but I was not expecting it.

I really enjoyed this one. The magical realism tag is misapplied as per normal, but it's a nicely done fantasy horror story.

(But, man, I wish fandom could agree on a way to tag stories that are mostly gen but do have some ships in them. I don't disagree that gen is the right tag for this fic, and they did note the background ships in the author's notes, but I hate that there is no easy way to say "this fic is gen in subject matter but contains references to non-canon/reality ships" without pissing off either the person looking for "pure" gen or the person looking for actual shipfic.)

Latest installment of the Latta/Wilson Bachelor AU fic is up. I'm enjoying the angst, but I kind of hope Tom finds someone soon to talk to soon about his "being in love with his gay best friend" problem with.
